With people concerned about their privacy more than ever, the security firm F-Secure has launched a cloud service called Younited. There are a couple of reasons which make this cloud service stand out from the rest. Our data is scattered over several networks. We use Dropbox, SkyDrive, Google Drive, Flickr and dozen of other services. Younited aims to bring all of your data at one place, by offering integration with other services. Think about it, you will be able to manage and control all your data from one location. The second benefit is its parent company, since F-Secure has developed this service, we can be rest assured with the level of encryption our data will be boxed in. Last, but certainly not the least, it is available on cross-platform, Windows OS, Windows Phone 8, iOS, Mac, Android, and the web version, and offers 10 GB free storage space.

The tutorials are short, and the whole set is only about 2 hours long.

UniPDF (Type: Free, OS: Windows – all versions, Size: 5 MB)

PDF file format is great at making things compact and secure. But when you are at the wrong end and need to edit that document, there are not many things you could do. There are ample of programs that offer PDF editing or conversion, but most of them fail to retain the original layout and formatting of the source file. This is where UniPDF makes its way. Not only is it good at doing the aforementioned task, but also converting the PDF files into Word, text, images and HTML file types. Please note: At the time of installation, you’ll be prompted to download some registry cleaning app, make sure to decline that offer.

Silent Install Helper (Type: Free, OS: Windows – all versions, Size: 500 KB)

Silent Install Helper lets you install multiple programs in batch, without bothering you with details. So you are done with setting up Windows OS, just select the programs you want to install on that machine, and Silent Install Helper will install everything without boring you with details.

FileOptimizer (Type: Free, OS: Windows – all versions, Size: 20 MB)

Unlike most other document compression utilities, FileOptimizer does all the compression work without compromising on quality. In other words, it is a loss-less compressor. You can put any kind of document file inside it, and albeit their file sizes will shrink, the quality won’t. Instead of degrading the file quality, it rearranges the bits in such a way that they take less size. It doesn’t require any installation, just download the file, unzip it, and the app is ready to rock.

Browser extensions

Daily Tabs

If there is a website that you check every single day, Daily Tabs, an add-on for Firefox can save you some clicks. Write down the websites you visit everyday, mention the date till when you want this cycle to repeat, and leave everything else to this extension.

Cortex

Cortex is a Chrome extension which is here to do one simple task, that is to help you share content across various platforms. Want to tweet the status you just posed on Facebook? Email or save the article you just opened on your tab? That’s what Cortex is all about.

Sendola

Whether you are trying to find a job, or want to contact the manager of a website, finding a way to reach to them can be a time-consuming task. Sendola finds the contact information, and in addition, sends it over to your phone as well. There is one catch, though. The database is user-generated. Hence unless someone has already made that entry, you won’t find the details.

Tab Ahead

On Google Chrome, there comes a point after which when you open a new tab, you won’t be able to distinguish it from others. The tab will stop displaying the title and eventually, the favicon. At that time, you can bet everything on your luck to get to a specific tab. Tab Ahead is designed to fix such mess. Click on its icon, and search for either the URL or the title of that tab, and Tab Ahead will take you there.
