New Airtel Plans and Tariffs
Airtel has released a list of old vs new plans and tariffs on their website and here is a screenshot depicting the same. The bare minimum recharge stays the same at Rs. 19 with a validity of 2 days and offers unlimited calling with 100 SMS messages and 150MB of mobile data. The next recharge, which used to be for Rs. 35 and was the minimum recharge value to keep your connection alive for 28 days has now been revised to Rs. 49 and offers Rs. 38.52 talk-time with 100MB data. Airtel has cleverly included a column indicating “price increase per day” which makes the price hike seem minimal, whereas tariffs have increased by up to Rs. 150 for the 84 days pack which is one of the most popular ones. Speaking about the 84 days pack with 1.5GB 4G data per day and unlimited calls, the previous price was Rs. 448 whereas the revised price is Rs. 598. The yearly plan which earlier used to cost Rs. 1699 for unlimited calls and 1.5GB data per day along with 100 SMS messages will now cost you Rs. 2398 which is a steep Rs. 700 increase. Airtel also offers its suite of apps like Wynk Music, Airtel Xstream Premium, free hello tunes and anti-virus mobile protection with these unlimited plans. One caveat to note here, though, is that the word “unlimited” is not completely true to its sense. There is a FUP on calls made from Airtel to other networks which is not explicitly mentioned on the website as of now. We will update this article once we’re aware of the call limits, but going by other operators, 3000 minutes is what seems to be the norm. After the FUP is exceeded, calls to other operators will be charged at 6 paise/min. All calls from Airtel to Airtel will remain free. The revised plans and tariffs will be applicable from 3rd December so users with existing plans/packs will not be affected until you recharge post expiry of your current plan.
