According to Zuckerberg, the clear history feature will allow the user to delete their Facebook history in entirety. As of now, Facebook has been collecting a lot of important data including the personal details like phone numbers. The treasure cove of data is then used by the company to serve targeted ads. Until now Facebook didn’t have an option to turn off the data collection. The new Clear History feature will let Facebook users opt out of data collection. This is done by deleting their browsing data from the Facebook’s servers and by requesting the company not to collect it in the first place. That being said the browsing data can still be accessed by Facebook via other means but rest assured that the Facebook app/website will stop collecting personal data. That being said the Delete option will take some time to remove all of your data from the Facebook servers. In fact, the Facebook servers will still store your data for 90-days after you chose to delete the same. However, the 90-days time period is relatively better as some of the aggregated analytics data is apparently stored for as long as two years. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Facebook is undergoing one of the biggest reforms ever since its inception. The company has for the first time come forth with details of all the data it had been collecting from Facebook users. The Social Media giant is also deliberating on how it will limit the data access to outsiders. On a separate note, Facebook is yet to reveal the kind of data that it will collect once it abides by the GDPR privacy regulations in Europe.
