Artificial Intelligence has become an integral part of the computing world these days, and the developments in this field have been faster than expected. Despite that, most of you are still in the notion that AI is still something whose presence is limited only to science fiction. Fortunately, that’s not the reality. In fact, AI is all around us; and powers various common features we have grown used to. These include talk-to-text, automatic photo tagging, spam mail detection, healthcare delivery, and so on. Intel has revealed that the company plans to utilize Nervana’s prowess in Machine learning to improve their Xeon and Xeon Phi range of chips. Until very recently, these highly capable chips were limited to workstations and data centers and deployed in complex crunching information. Recently though, Intel has decided to make use of these chips in some future laptops aimed at hardcore professionals. Nevertheless, Intel plans to integrate its own Intel Math Kernel Library with the AI-backed Nervana Engine. The acquisition of Nervana will help Intel leapfrog itself in the world of cloud computing and help them steer clear of the competition. That said, Intel’s increasing interest in Machine learning is something to look forward to. Rather Intel has now joined the elite league of companies, including Google, Facebook, and Nvidia, who are closely working with AI startups to improve the world of tomorrow.
