Redmi 7A vs Realme C2 vs Samsung Galaxy M10
Display
The Redmi 7A features a 5.45-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 1440 x 720 pixels screen resolution with an 18:9 aspect ratio (which is hard to be seen these days), and a 2.5D curved glass. On the other hand, the Galaxy M10 comes with a 6.22-inch HD+ TFT display with a 1520 × 720 pixels screen resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. And finally, the Realme C2, with a 6.1-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 1560 x 720 pixels screen resolution at 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. The other two devices don’t specify the glass protection used.
Performance
In terms of the internals, the Redmi 7A comes with a 12nm Octa-Core Snapdragon 439 processor with Adreno 505 GPU, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 256GB with microSD). Whereas, the Galaxy M10 has a 14nm Octa-Core Exynos 7870 processor with Mali-G71 GPU, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB with microSD card). And the Realme C2, with a 12nm Octa-Core Helio P22 processor with PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 256GB with microSD card). When stacked up, the processors show some significant differences in performance. Especially with benchmarks, in which case, the Helio P22 manages to score higher than the Snapdragon 439 and Exynos 7870. However, when upon taking other determining factors like the GPU, DSP, etc. into consideration, the Snapdragon 439 comes out as a winner, with the Helio P22 trailing second, and the Exynos 7870 finishing last.
Camera
The camera department is another aspect where the Redmi 7A claims to excel over its competitors. It comes with a 12MP rear camera with a Sony IMX486 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, LED flash, 1.25um pixel size, and PDAF. And a 5MP camera on the front for selfies and face unlock. In comparison, the Realme C2 and the Galaxy M10 sport a dual-camera setup on the rear. The Realme C2 sports a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.12µm pixel size, and PDAF and a 2MP secondary depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 1.75µm pixel size. And the Galaxy M10, a 13MP primary camera with f/1.9 aperture, 1.12µm pixel size, and PDAF and a 5MP secondary ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture. Coming to the front, the Realme C2 offers a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1.12µm pixel size, and the Galaxy M10, a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. Obviously, the Sony IMX486 is a better-known sensor which we have seen on the likes of Redmi Note 7 and Mi A2, but we got to wait and see how the camera fares in comparison to the Realme C2 and the Galaxy M10.
Battery
A battery is one of the crucial aspects when deciding to buy a smartphone. To sustain the processing capabilities, and to allow users to get the most out of their smartphones, you need something that can easily last through a day of use. In this department, the Redmi 7A and the Realme C2 manage to get a lead over the Galaxy M10, with a 4000mAh battery on each, compared to just a 3430mAh battery on the M10. Considering MIUI is usually better optimized and the screen on Redmi 7A is smaller than the Realme C2, we suspect the 7A will last longer than the C2. But wait for us to test it out in the coming days before concluding.
Pricing
Let’s talk about THE major factor when deciding a smartphone. The Redmi 7A starts at INR 5,999 (INR 5,799, until July) for the 2GB + 16GB variant and INR 6,199 (INR 5,999, until July) for the 2GB + 32GB variant. Compared to the Realme C2, which starts at INR 5,999 for the 2GB + 16GB variant and INR 7,999 for the 3GB + 32GB. And the Galaxy M10, which starts at INR 6,990 for the 2GB + 16GB variant and INR 7,990 for the 3GB + 32GB variant (after the recent markdown). Interestingly, the Redmi 7A will come with two years of warranty and will go on sale in India starting July 11th at 12 Noon, on Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores.
