And one of these from one of the biggest names in the audio business just got a terrific price cut, taking them from a slightly premium segment to a much more affordable one. We are talking of the Sennheiser CX 7.00 BT. The earphones were first launched at a price of Rs. 11,990 in 2017, making them a slightly pricey offering. Fast forward to 2020, the Sennheiser CX 7.00 BT earphones have now received a major price cut and are now available for half the original price at Rs. 5,990. This makes them not only remarkably more affordable but also a serious contender in the wireless earphone segment for anyone looking for wireless earphones with a budget in the vicinity of Rs 5,000-6,000.
Look stylish…still (well, Sennheiser!)
In terms of design, the Sennheiser CX 7.00 BT definitely look stylish. Their design is very contemporary and timeless which is why they look good even after three years of being released. They come with a stiff plastic neckband that dominates the looks of the earphones. It is thinner in the middle and gets thicker on the sides, where the controls are. Unlike some wireless earphones that come with a more flexible middle band, the one on the CX 7.00 BT is quite rigid, giving it a more steady presence around the neck. The flexible and thinner wires that carry the earbuds on their ends stem from this hard plastic neckband and you get variable ear tips sizes which allow you to choose the one that fits the best. The inner side of the left thick end of the neckband carries the controls– the power button, the volume controls, and the play/pause button, the mic, and the Micro USB port for charging. There is a small Bluetton icon with a tiny LED light to indicate a connection. Hints of dark blue as small bands on the neckband and on the earbuds peek through the heavy shade of black that looms all over the earphones. The logo and label of the brand is silver on the back of the buds and the sides of the neckband ends, act as bolts of lightning, streaming through the dark, dense shades of blue and black. In sum? It looks good and very smart even now.
Plenty of sonic muscle too (well, Sennheiser!)
The Sennheiser CX 7.00 BT offer quite a bit when it comes to specs and features. They come with support for Bluetooth 4.1 (which might sound a little dated in the age of Bluetooth 5.0 but will suffice for most) and for the audio lovers, also with support for Qualcomm’s apt-X technology for Hi-Fi sound. The company claims the earphones offer a battery life of up to ten hours on a single charge. That might not impress some (we have the Bullets Wireless Z offering twice as much at a much lower price) but they do come with support for fast charging that takes about 1.5 hours for the earphones to charge completely. The Sennheiser CX 7.00 BT also come with support for NFC. And you can connect the earphones with up to two devices simultaneously which eliminates the hassle of pair/unpairing if you like to switch between devices. You also get a carry pouch in the box which makes it easy to carry the earphones around. In the sound department, the earphones offer the iconic Sennheiser sound. The audio on the earphones is deep and defined, and there is just the right hint of bass – they sound a whole lot better than some earphones that cost twice as much and infinitely superior to any TWS at their price point. Thanks to the different sized ear tips, the earphones are able to keep a lot of noise out, offering great passive noise cancellation. The microphones work very well indeed and there are among the best wireless earphones we have seen for making calls! The collar-like band also keeps them very stable so you can walk around and talk comfortably without any fear – they have a range of about 10 meters, as long as walls do not get in the way. We would have liked dust and water resistance, but we do not think it is a deal-breaker, considering the quality of the build and the features onboard.
Rs 5,990? Deal(well, Sennheiser!)
So, if you are someone who is always on the move and working at the same time and are looking for a pair of wireless earphones to give you some hand-space from that phone while delivering well-defined sound, the Sennheiser CX 7.00 BT are perfect for you. With that price cut, the deal definitely becomes much sweeter! We would go as far as to say that this is one of the best audio deals for anyone seeking wireless sound below Rs 6,000! Note: This product might be available at other prices at other retailers. The price we have written about was available at the time of writing. It might have been revised since.
