And that is just the tip of the Xiaomi iceberg, which includes a host of products, ranging from backpacks to rice cookers. Although the Wi-Fi router and Air Purifier have made their ways to India, so many others, unfortunately, have not. While we wait, here is a list of seven devices from Xiaomi that we would LOVE to see in the Indian market, and no, NONE of them is a phone!
1. Xiaomi Li-Ning smart shoes: The smart running buddy
Xiaomi, in partnership with a Chinese shoe maker, Li- Ning, launched smart sports shoes a while ago. These smart shoes were launched in China at prices starting at 199 RMB or Rs 2,035 (approximately) which means that they are actually quite pocket-friendly. The shoes come with a module that has got sensors placed underneath the sole and can connect to a smartphone over Bluetooth. The shoes can keep track of various fitness related activities: count steps, keep track of calories burnt, and so on. Xiaomi also claims that the shoe is sweat proof, waterproof and the sensors inside the shoes are made up of military grade material. If this does not motivate us enough to go for a run, nothing else probably will. Why do you think we want them out here?!
2. Xiaomi QiCycle: We want Mi Pedal Power
Hate the traffic and missing out on daily exercise? Well, Xiaomi has the solution to all these problems, but unfortunately, it is not yet in India. Last year, the company launched a smart bike, QiCycle in China which is electric and wait for it, is foldable as well. The bike is priced at Yuan 2,999 which is approximately Rs. 30,000. The smart bike has a 250W-36V electric motor integrated inside along with Torque Measurement Method (TTM) to support the rider’s pedal power. The bike has got different gears to make it easy for you to ride in different areas and is powered by a Panasonic 18650 battery that can last up to 45 kilometers on a single charge. And as we mentioned earlier, one can just fold it and keep it in the trunk of his/her car and take it along to various places. An absolute drool-worthy deal.
3. Yi 4K Action Camera: Go, Pro, we want Mi
The words “action camera” generally ring just one bell in our minds: GoPro. But it is not just GoPro that is running in the race here. Xiaomi, in 2016, launched its very own action camera called the Yi 4K Action camera which was an upgraded version of the Yi Action Camera 2 that the company launched in 2015. The camera costs around Rs. 12,500 in Indian currency. It can shoot 4K videos at 30fps and can record full HD videos at 120fps and HD recordings at 240fps. The pocket-sized camera comes with a 12 megapixel Sony IMX377 sensor with f/2.8 aperture and 155-degree viewing angle. It is powered by an Ambarella A9SE chipset and comes with a 2.19-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The camera also has a MicroSD card slot, dual microphones and runs on a 1400 mAh battery.
4. Ninebot Mini: Step away, Segway
Soon after investing in a robotics company, Ninebot, Xiaomi, in 2015, launched a self-balancing two-wheeled scooter called Ninebot Mini. The bike is powered by a battery and goes head to head with Segway, which offers something similar but at a very high price comparatively. The Ninebot Mini can travel maximum at the of 16 km/h and can go on uphill with slopes of up to 15 degrees. The scooter only weighs 12.8 kilograms and is small enough to into a trunk of a car. The Ninebot Mini is priced at Yuan 1,999 which is approximately Rs. 20,000.
5. Mi Drone: Videos up in the air
In partnership with Flymi, a China-based company, Xiaomi launched a quadcopter called the Mi Drone. The device that comes with a camera is backed by a 5100 mAh battery at 17.4V which can fly for 27 minutes non-stop as per the company. There are two versions of the drone; one variant can shoot 1080p video and is priced at approximately Rs. 26,000 and the other one can shoot 4K video and comes with an approximate price tag of Rs. 31,000. The 1080p, as well as 4K versions, offer up to 104-degree wide-angle lens. Another highlight of the device is its modular device, thanks to which one can easily assemble and disassemble the drone, making it very easy to carry the device around.
6. Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 4G: MacBook Air with Windows!
Just when 2016 was about to end, Xiaomi introduced its insanely thin Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 4G. There are two variants of the device priced at approximately at Rs. 46,000 (12.5-inch display) and Rs. 62,000 (13.3-inch display). The notebook comes with a SIM card support which will allow users to connect to the Internet even without a Wi-Fi Connection. As the name suggests, the notebook supports 4G LTE connectivity and can offer download speeds up to 150 Mbps. Both the devices run Windows 10 but offer different configurations. The closest thing to a Windows MacBook Air, we think.
7. Xiaomi 4K Mi Box 3S
No, we are not talking about the Mi TV (which we would love to have, but considerably tougher to get them to India), but the Android TV based Mi Box 3S. Powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the Mi Box 3S was launched late last year with AI and 4K UHD support. It has an Amlogic Quad-core processor along with 2GB DDR3 RAM and 8GB of internal storage, and easily one of the best Android TV Boxes out there. The Mi Box 3S is priced at 299 RMB (approximately Rs 2800). It even made its way to the US, so how about India next? So that was our wishlist.
