The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter comes with an aircraft grade aluminum frame with a folding design. The easily foldable frame of the scooter will allow users to carry it easily with them even when not in use. Just to recall, the QiCycle from Xiaomi also came with a similar design philosophy. Apart from that, the electric scooter is quite light too at just 12.5kg and the can folded quite easily in just 3 secs with a press of a button. The Mi Electric Scooter sports a puny 8.5-inch pneumatic tire, which according to Xiaomi, offers excellent shock absorption and stability. It has a DC motor with integrated die-casting molding to protect its internal structure. This motor powering the Mi Electric Scooter comes with a maximum torque of 16Nm that results in a maximum speed of 25km/h. The DC motor inside the bike has a rated power of 250W and boasts of an instantaneous maximum power up to 500W.
The electric bike from Xiaomi comes with dual front and rear brake discs. Apart from that the front wheel also has an anti-braking system in the form of E-ABS. The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter also boasts of features like Cruise Control that allow you ride at a fixed pre-determined speed. This is based on an intelligent driving functionality that makes use of unique algorithms and speed sensors. It’s worth noting that the electric scooter comes with 1.1W high brightness front LED light and four LED power indicators. As for the battery, Xiaomi has used a 280Wh Lithium battery sourced from LG. The company claims that this can power the scooter for a distance of 30kms. Just like any Mijia product, the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter has a trick down its sleeve. It features an energy recovery system that can be turned on by simply pressing the brake handle or releasing the throttle on the go. This will result in a subsequent conversion of kinetic energy to electricity, thereby offering an improved battery life. Besides, the electric scooter comes with a Bluetooth than can be paired with your smartphone to monitor your cycling habits via a proprietary app. The smartphone app provides information related to riding speed, remaining power as well as details regarding the intensity of energy recovery system.
The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter comes in two color options – Black and White. It is priced at 1,999 Yuan (Rs 19,559/$289 approx.) and will go on sale in China via the company’s crowd funding portal starting December 15th.
